When Justin moved to Wiesbaden, Germany, from Baltimore, he wanted keep on living his passion for music. Having all the equipment and experience necessary, as well as a location with amazing acoustics he started a recording studio.
The Recording Room aims to offer high quality recordings for amateurs and semi-professionals at an affordable price. The living room atmosphere, the amazing acoustics and its passionate owner give the location an unique and welcoming feeling.
Studio time can be very expensive. Being recorded professionally for the first time can be intimidating.
The goal was to convey the quality of the studio but also not discourage amateurs who have no experience with recording studios at all and invite musicians to spent time in a studio that they can afford.
We developed a cheerful but reduced identity with warm colors and a simple logotype to make the Recoding Room inviting and approachable and reflect the owner's philanthropic values.
The logotype finds inspiration in tape recorders and vinyl spinning and the wave pattern in the center is an essential icon of audio recording. We explored several directions, from bold, letter based logos, to craft-inspired labels until we came up with the final concept. The website uses bold type and simple colorblocking to underline the uncomplicated and approachable feeling of the identity while employing black and white images to underline the professional attitude.
